This is the attitude that every creative artist needs to take.
When you’re wondering if you have the guts to post that new fanfic or to send your manuscript to a publisher, remember this.
Life goals.
reblogging this again because i really fucking need it right now
I have two philosophies:
“If you’re not in the arena also getting your ass kicked, I’m not interested in your feedback.”
And
“The critique of the artwork is not a critique of the artist.”
The first is taken directly from the lips of Brene Brown in a TED Talk that changed my life, which I will link below.
The second is something I learned in school when I received what was probably the WORST critique from a teacher I have ever had. My professor sat with me one night and said, “Britt, you are doing something dangerous – you are confusing the worth of your work with your self worth. Just because I find faults in your designs doesn’t mean I find fault in you as a person. I’m critiquing your artwork to help your skills grow and flourish. I’m not finding fault in you.”
hello i am here today to not lose track of the art cheats i have discovered over the years. what i call art cheat is actually a cool filter/coloring style/way to shade/etc. that singlehandedly makes art like 20 times better
when you don’t do a warm up and go straight into lineart and your hand does the thing
Thats a sign of inflammation of the wrist called carpel tunnel . I had surgery because it got so bad I couldn’t draw anymore.
Yikes D8.
That’s why it’s so important to do stretches and draw with your whole arm (ok, arguably hard with a tablet versus a big gorgeous easel) and etc but I forgot today bc I am a moron and it was great
?????
people warm up to draw? like… how?
not an artists but climbing hand and lower arm exercises;
trying to find more and better diagrams for other stretches but yeah it’s super important if your gonna be using your arms a lot.
Adding this important video for all the artists out there, take care of your hands ♥
Also adding that the surgery isn’t that bad as far as surgeries go. You will be able to continue using your hands afterward. I have had so many of my fellow artists panic about thinking they might have to have surgery- but my mother had it in both hands and while fine motor skills took about a month to return, she’s fine.
